North Korea Envoy Boycotts Trump’s UNGA Address
Ambassador Ja Song Nam walked out during the maiden speech of Trump at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday. The US president warned that he would “totally destroy” North Korea if the country threatened the US or its allies.
 
"The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea," he said.
 
"It is time for North Korea to realize that its denuclearization is its only responsible future," he added. Trump also warned that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, whom he referred to as "rocket man", "is on a suicide mission for himself."
 
Trump’s provocative address to the UN General Assembly had ambassadors writhing in their seats as the US President refused continued with his undiplomatic vitriol.
 
The current tensions on the Korean Peninsula started following increased provocations by the US which includes military drills and deployment of warships and submarines in the region.
 
Pyongyang insists that developing its military defenses including nuclear weapons is important to counter incessant provocations by the US including a possible nuclear aggression.
