Forensic investigators inspect a car exploded in the Swedish city of Gothenburg on June 12, 2015.
At least four people were inside the car when it exploded near a local fire station in the district of Torslanda on Friday afternoon, RT's RUPTLY video agency reported.

Eyewitness Janne Wolltin told Swedish radio that he was driving near the car when the explosion occurred.

"I saw how, I think it was the roof, flew up in the air," Wolltin said, adding, "It was a very strong blast," The Associated Press quoted Wolltin as saying.

The cause of the blast was not immediately clear. Police cordoned off the spot to launch an investigation into the incident.

Gothenburg, Sweden's second largest city which is located on the country's southwestern coast, has seen a rise in violent confrontations between rival criminal gangs. In March, two people were killed and a dozen others wounded in a restaurant shooting in the city.
