Iran Commends Turkey for Suspending Trade Relations with Israel
During a meeting with his Turkish counterpart on the sidelines of an OIC summit in the Gambia on Saturday, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian commended the recent decision by the Ankara government to suspend economic and trade relations with the Zionist regime as a "significant step."

Expressing condemnation for the war crimes committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza, the senior Iranian diplomat emphasized the necessity for Islamic countries, particularly Iran and Turkey, to play a more robust and proactive role in supporting Palestine.

In response, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan underscored the paramount importance of the Palestinian issue for the Muslim world.

He also concurred on the need for active efforts by OIC members to support the Palestinians.

Emphasizing Turkey's commitment to enhancing ties with Iran, Fidan embraced increased collaboration between the two neighboring countries within regional and international forums.

The two high-ranking diplomats also discussed strategies to halt the severe Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli attacks on Gaza have resulted in the deaths of at least 34,654 Palestinians and left 77,908 others injured.
