West fears Russian influence, wants to drag it into war
Q: Mr. Billington, how much do you think NATO will openly assist the Ukrainian military in its shelling of civilian areas in the country's eastern regions?

Billington: There is a great danger that they will. [Anders Fogh] Rasmussen was in Denmark yesterday repeating his lies, openly saying that Russia had invaded Ukraine yesterday with this so-called armored battalion for which of course they have no pictures, no evidence because it simply did not happen.

The level of outright lying in regard to Russia’s role in eastern Ukraine surpasses the lies about Saddam Hussein and about Assad using chemical weapons which of course were proven to be total lies. And you have the same outright lying going on now.

The problem is that we are facing a complete dissolution of the entire Western financial system. The Russian sanctions against imports of European food has had some significant damage but it is not that per se, it is that the European nations have been put under a austerity genocidal gun with cases like Greece and Portugal literally facing mass death and forty, fifty percent unemployment for many years now and on top of that Russia’s very important sanctions on food which were done not only to punish those nations that are sanctioning Russia for no reason, but also because Russia is preparing for war.

They recognize that Obama is a lunatic, that the Cameron and the British and Rasmussen head of NATO are fanatics who are using lies, unbelievable lies to justify what they intend to make a war not because of anything Russia has done in terms of Ukraine but really because Russia, China, India, the rest of the BRICS nations have essentially changed world history.

They have established a new paradigm for the world by establishing the new banks, the New Development Bank, China’s Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank which means the IMF World Bank British American policy is no longer the only game in town. They are telling the rest of the world you no longer have to obey this imperial dictate coming from London and Washington and the response from London and Washington is okay we are going to go to war and unless we can remove Obama from office and identify the hideous role of Cameron and the British empire in this then we will have war.

But I think we need to focus more on the fact that most of the nations of the world including Iran which is now talking about joining with the BRICS - extremely important - are organizing around development, around science, technology, industry, nuclear power, going to space , mining helium-3 in the moon. This is what Mr. LaRouche has focused on is that the idea of mining helium-3 in the moon for fusion on earth is the future of mankind not this insane financial breakdown in the West and not the insane war policy being dictated by Obama.

So I think in the real case of what is going on in Ukraine, Putin has been quite reserved properly so, he does not want to be dragged into a war which is being waged for other purposes but on the other hand as you see the sending this huge caravan of aid to try to stop the slaughter that is going on by the Kiev government, the open shelling of civilian cities in Donetsk and Luhansk ...

Q: Speaking about the humanitarian situation, why is it that seemingly the humanitarian situation has seen less attention by Western media?

Billington:  Yes, if that is the case. You know you talk about humanitarian intervention in Iraq, you were just talking about the Iraq situation, humanitarian intervention to save the people in the mountains and so forth, well of course they have no concern for humanitarian considerations in Donetsk and Luhansk who are being slaughtered by shelling airstrikes and so on in civilian areas.

No this is an attempt to start a war. Their intention here is to drag Russia into a war not because anything Russia has done. They have not invaded. They have been very, very restrained and they are doing the right thing. They are being restrained there but they are going full steam ahead with development projects, with our Latin American allies who have now joined with the BRICS in rejecting this insane financial dictatorship from New York who is trying to destroy Argentina and so forth and more importantly they are working together on nuclear power, on space, on fusion power, on the future of mankind.

And that is what we have to achieve here in the United States is get to America back to its senses, back to its original intent as a nation committed to development. As we had throughout history perhaps last under Roosevelt and Kennedy but which we can and must do now that the situation has become so stark and clear.
