Islam Times – The Sunnis lose their majority after 13 seats are won by independent candidates.

Islam times reports that the second round of parliamentary elections were announced early Sunday morning. The Shia opposition was able to win 18 out of the 40 seats in the parliament. It is interesting to note that they only had 18 candidates; therefore, all of their candidates won.
These results are a major blow to the dominant Sunni government who rains over a majority Shia population in Bahrain.
Shia citizens of Bahrain have been complaining of oppression against them for years. In addition to Shia Islamic groups, Amnesty international and the Human Rights Watch have heeded to their calls.
