Near 3,000 Daesh Terrorists Killed in 4 Days
Iraqis forces advance as they battle with Islamic State militants in western Mosul, Iraq March 13, 2017.
Islam Times - The Iraqi army said that 2,900 Daesh terrorists were killed over the past few days in western Mosul as U.S.-backed operations continue to liberate the remaining districts.
A spokesperson of the army’s elite Counter-Terrorism Service said that the “preliminary” toll resulted from fierce encounters during the past four days at the Tenek and Abar districts, both since recaptured by government troops.
Battles are currently raging around Mosul’s densely populated and narrowly structured Old City district where police forces are cautiously approaching the grand Al-Nouri mosque that is heavily defended as Daesh’s leader declared the ‘Khalifat’ there
Admittedly, the battles in the western side of Mosul were more intense than those in the east, Iraqi and coalition commanders said that Dash’s influence was receding as many top leaders were either killed or managed to escape the battlefield.
